3 Lessons Ramadhan Taught me
For Deen and Business
As-Salaam Alaykum,
I hope you and your family are enjoying Eid.
May Allah accept all of our fasts
This Ramadan, I did a lot of reflection.
And if I had to summarize everything I learned into 3 lessons, it would be these:
Lesson 1: Most of us waste time without realizing it
Ramadan forced me to constantly check myself.
My actions.
My habits.
How I spent my minutes.
And I started noticing something:
We waste a lot of time.
Time we will never get back.
Let me give you a simple example.
You have 2 minutes.
You can either:
Scroll 10 reels…
Or say SubhanAllah 100 times.
Both take the same time.
But the outcome?
Completely different.
One gives you cheap dopamine.
The other gives you 100 good deeds or erases 100 sins.
In the dunya, the difference feels small.
But in the Akhirah?
It’s huge.
I’m not saying I’m perfect.
I still scroll.
But Ramadan made me aware of something I can’t ignore anymore:
The opportunity cost of my time.
So now, I’m more selective.
More intentional.
More protective over how I spend my minutes.
Lesson 2: Reflection improves both your deen and your business
That same habit of self-reflection didn’t just stay in ibadah.
It carried into my business.
Recently, my HR told me something interesting.
Two of our team members had job offers from other companies.
One was offered a job near her house.
The other was offered a higher salary.
But they chose to stay with us.
And you’d wonder why right?
Why would anyone say no to convenience or a higher salary?
I reflected on this and had a convo with my HR
then I understood why:
One of our company strategies was to create a company-like environment
And it acturally worked
It created loyalty.
It made people stay even when they had other options.
That’s when it clicked:
Reflection isn’t just for Ibadah.
It helps with business too
As a Muslim professional or business owner, you need to constantly reflect on your decisions
Did they work?
Did they not work?
Reflection isn’t just spiritual.
It’s strategic.
Lesson 3: Your fitrah is built for worship not cash
Another thing Ramadan made clear to me:
True peace doesn’t come from client invoices.
Yes, earning halal is ibadah
But the peace you feel in Ramadan?
It doesn’t come from a client saying “yes”.
It doesn’t come from a stripe notification.
It comes from:
• Resisting a sin.
• Standing in taraweeh
• Breaking the fast with your family around.
That’s why Ramadan feels different.
Because for once…
You’re aligned with your purpose.
And this led me to a powerful realization:
We don’t need more time.
We need better use of time.
Because if you structure your time properly…
You can get 10 hours of meaningful work done in just 2.
That’s what my Barakah Flow will help you with:
Check it out [Barakah Flow]
And that gives you something most people don’t have:
Time for worship.
Time for your family.
Time for what actually matters.
May Allah allow us to carry the lessons of Ramadan throughout the year.
JazakAllahu Khayran,
Ali
