Why you feel drained by 2 PM
Assalamu’alaikum,
I want to share something that used to frustrate me.
and you might relate to it.
I used to wake up around 9:30 AM feeling rested.
But by 2 PM I was completely drained.
I didn’t understand why.
it’s not like i was running marathons, i was mostly just on my desk.
But my brain felt exhausted…
…and it wasn’t even Asr yet.
if this sounds like you then keep reading
Why You’re Drained Before the Day is Half Over
Think of your brain like a phone battery.
Every time a notification lights up your screen your brain uses some energy.
Even if it’s just for a moment.
this is how it was for me:
WhatsApp ping
Snapchat ping
Instagram ping
so my brain would keep using energy.
over and over and over and over again.
Now imagine how many times this happens before 2 PM.
No wonder we feel drained.
It’s not because the day is too long.
It’s because our energy has been leaking all morning.
Ghaflah (Heedlessness)
When your brain is tired, your heart follows.
You don’t have any motivation to do anything beneficial.
This puts you in a state of ghaflah
Basically, a state where you’re not remembering Allah.
By Asr time, you see the notification for prayer on your phone
(oh hear the adhan depending on where you live)
and your first instinct is resistance to Salah.
Not because you don’t care.
or because you’re a bad muslim.
But because your heart is heavy and your energy is gone.
Protecting Your Heart & Mind
Now listen, i’m not gonna give you a 10-step, 20-page document solution for this
so don’t worry.
the fix is simple: Enable DND on your phone for at least an hour.
this will block out unnecessary notifications that distract you.
I know what you’re thinking: “what if i miss something important?“
The truth is, very little actually changes in an hour.
The messages, the updates, the notifications
they’ll still be there when you get back.
A Faster Path
If you want to go deeper, I put together the Halal Digital Detox Guide.
It shows you how to reclaim your focus and feel closer to Allah in just 10 days—without quitting social media.
Think of it as a step-by-step reset for your heart and mind.
Thanks,
Ali
